The benefits of using rosin in electric soldering irons?

In recent days, I often see people asking why rosin should be added to soldering tin. Here, I have roughly summarized it. Rosin is the most commonly used flux, neutral. If it is a newly printed circuit board, a layer of loose perfume should be coated on the surface of the copper foil before welding. If the circuit board is already made, it can be directly soldered. In fact, the use of rosin depends on personal habits. Some people immerse the soldering iron head on the rosin every time they weld a component. The use of rosin is also very simple. Open the rosin box and soak the powered soldering iron tip on it. If solid solder is used during welding, adding some rosin is necessary; If rosin tin welding wire is used, rosin may not be used.

The role played by rosin in soldering. Rosin will have weak acidity at the temperature of an electric soldering iron, which can clean the oxide layer on the welding surface and allow solder to soak in the welding surface. Nowadays, there is usually rosin in the middle of soldering tin used in the electronics industry. As long as there is a little bit of it on the soldering iron, the soldering wire can work directly on the soldering iron. The types of flux can generally be divided into three major series: organic, inorganic, and resin. Resin flux is usually extracted from tree secretions and is a natural product with little corrosiveness. Rosin is a representative of this type of flux, so it is also known as rosin flux. Because flux is usually used in conjunction with solder, it can be divided into soft flux and hard flux corresponding to solder. Soft soldering fluxes such as rosin, rosin mixed flux, solder paste, and hydrochloric acid are commonly used in the assembly and maintenance of electronic products. In addition, they should be selected according to different welding workpieces in different situations. When using flux, it must be applied appropriately based on the area and surface condition of the soldered part. If the amount is too small, it will affect the welding quality. If the amount is too large, the flux residue will corrode the components or deteriorate the insulation performance of the circuit board.
