4 reasons why the tip of the soldering iron oxidizes too quickly

1. Soldering head quality problem: The quality of the soldering iron head is not good enough, which will seriously affect the use effect.

2. If the temperature is too high, it will generate heat quickly, and it is easy to burn the tip of the soldering iron. The temperature setting has a lot to do with the soldering iron used. For example, using a common soldering iron requires a temperature of 350 degrees, but due to insufficient power during use, it may need to be adjusted to 380 degrees.

3. The problem of insufficient maintenance: every time it is used up, it needs to be tinned to prevent oxidation.

4. The soldering iron tip is deformed or perforated.

How to deal with the rapid oxidation of soldering iron tip
It is forbidden to "scrape" the soldering iron tip with a sharp object or sandpaper to prevent damage to the service life of the soldering iron tip.

1. The temperature of poor quality soldering iron is high, while the temperature of good quality soldering iron is slow and the temperature is low, so it is not easy to burn the tip of the soldering iron. In order to ensure the normal use of the soldering iron tip, the quality must be checked when choosing.

2. High temperature will accelerate the oxidation of the soldering iron tip and reduce the life of the soldering iron tip. The higher the temperature, the shorter the service life of the soldering iron tip. For every 20°C increase, the service life of the soldering iron tip will be reduced by half. Therefore, under the premise of meeting the welding conditions, low-temperature welding should be used as much as possible.

3. Put the tip of the soldering iron into the rosin and apply solder, roll it in it, and the oxide will fall off after a while. After the usual use, fill the tip with tin until it can no longer stick. Next time you use it, put it on a wet sponge Wipe it and it will be very shiny.

4. Replace the tip of the soldering iron.

Precautions:

It is forbidden to use a file to remove oxides on the welding tip.

The tip of the electric soldering iron burns to death, showing a black layer, or does not melt the tin. You can scrape the tip with a blade to expose the copper part. When scraping, do not use too much force. Immediately after scraping, use a solder wire Melt on top.

The disadvantage of this method is that long-term operation will shorten the life of the soldering iron tip.

Note that when the soldering station is not in use, do not keep the tip of the soldering iron at high temperature for a long time, which will convert the flux on the tip of the soldering iron into oxides, that is, oxidation of the tip of the soldering iron will cause the thermal conductivity of the tip to decrease.

When the soldering station is not in use, it is necessary to turn off the power, mainly for non-temperature-controlled and non-automatic dormancy soldering stations.
