How to measure voltage and current with clamp ammeter

A clamp meter is a meter used to measure the magnitude of the current in a running electrical circuit, and it can measure the current without interruption of power supply. The clamp meter is actually a current transformer. The stuck wire is equivalent to the primary coil of the transformer. When there is current in the wire, a magnetic flux will be generated in the iron core of the meter, and then in the secondary coil of the meter. The current is induced, which is equal to the current in the primary coil multiplied by the number of turns of the primary coil (that is, a wire, so it is one turn) divided by the number of turns of the secondary coil, and then according to this relationship, the wire can be converted in the current.

The clamp ammeter is actually an electromagnetic inductor. The energized wire generates a magnetic field. The magnitude of the current produces a different magnetic field strength. The current value converted on the clamp meter is different due to the difference in the three-phase voltage, so each phase The current hole on the battery is different, so you can only measure the current of a single phase, and then calculate the average current. Finally, whether it is a three-phase 380v voltage or a two-phase 220v voltage, the method used is the same.

The clamp ring of the clamp multimeter is set for measuring current, but since the clamp multimeter is called, it does not only measure AC current.

Many clamp meters have the functions of measuring resistance, AC and DC voltage, etc. Simply put, the functions of ordinary multimeters can be implemented on clamp multimeters. Many clamp meters have the function of measuring DC current, but most of them currently use test leads instead of clamp rings.

Adjust to the current gear, and directly clamp the wire to be measured with the caliper.

Some clamp meters can measure voltage, while others cannot. Those that can measure voltage are equipped with test leads. Insert the test leads into the corresponding holes, adjust to the voltage level, and put two test leads on the voltage points to be measured, such as one live wire and one neutral wire.

Clamp ammeter to measure DC
The clamp ammeter is a special instrument for measuring alternating current. Its front end is a current transformer. It realizes the measurement task through the principle of electromagnetic induction.

Clamp ammeters cannot test DC current, because DC does not have an alternating magnetic field, so no secondary current will be generated in the clamp transformer, so it is impossible to measure DC current with a clamp ammeter.

Clamp ammeters are generally used to measure alternating current. It is made according to the principle of AC spiral current, which is somewhat similar to a transformer, and obtains signals through electromagnetic induction. I always use ammeters to measure DC in series with the circuit, but theoretically, it is possible to make a DC clamp meter. Alternating current is used in much the same way. Select the appropriate range, put a wire to be tested into the center of the jaw, and the corresponding current will be displayed on the display.
