I needed one of these to do wattage calculations on my 240 volt loads to know what my solar system requirements would be. I was able get the voltage, current draw inrush and continuous with this GVDA GD169A clamp meter. so I checked everything around the house by testing each 120 or 240 volt line at my circuit breakers. found out that my table saw can draw 60 amps of inrush current and the electric dryer is a full 5kwh same with the electric oven element on broil at 400f. the different modes are nice features to have but Im mainly looking for volt/amp and continuity measurements. the built in led light is also a nice feature. I did use the wrong mode on live circuits by mistake like dc volt or dc amps on a ac circuit and the tool is smart enough to know and protect itself.
the display is bright and readable when your centered in front of it. but when its at your left hand side it does get obscured. also obscured if your looking downward/viewing from above. looking upward or viewing from below is not a problem. see my photos with timestamps.
the measuring probes have a removable cap to expose more of the prongs if needed. I have not use the thermocouple temperature mode as of writing this review. something else to know is the tool fits in the included carry case with the test leads plugged into the bottom of the unit. this is great if you want to just leave it in. overall really good features and functions at a unbeatable price.
