I was in the market for this GVDA 169 Clmap meter. My current meter was 20 years old and the lcd display was fading. Working on motorcycles I needed a clamp meter that I could measure inrush currents to test starters. This meter supports both ac and dc currents. What i like about it
- large backlite display
- build quality was there
- internals looks good too, there are several youtube reviews with a deep dive into the internals of the meter.
- nice leads, seemed strong and secures tight into the meter
- three year warranty
- sale price for about 1/2 price of other meters
I originally was going to buy the Harbor Freight Ames model. Ames unit is identical in features etc but the leads were cheap and it only carried a 90 day warranty. For. $35 more you could buy a 2 year warranty but now you’re in for $135 and one less year in warranty. Plus the carrying case is much cheaper for the Ames versus the semi hard case with this unit.
