4 Calibration Requirements for Coating Thickness Gauge
The standard thickness sheet is a thickness measure used to calibrate coating thickness gauges or to confirm the indication error and variability of the coating thickness gauge. The measuring room's humidity was 65%, the coating thickness gauge's calibration conditions were 20°C–2°C for the temperature, 2h for the thickness sheet to reach temperature equilibrium with the gauge block, and 15min at least for the vertical optical gauge to warm up. Supply of electricity: 220 (1%) V, 50 Hz.
1 Aesthetic
The thickness sheet must not have any blemishes on either of its sides, including scratches, bumps, or other flaws. Visual inspection is the calibration technique.
2 Functional region
The area of the uniform surface thickness should not be less than 20mm20mm, and the area of a circle with a radius higher than 5mm should be marked on the uneven surface. Using a steel yardstick as a calibrator.
The average of 3 numbers.
The gauge block, thickness sheet, optical measuring anvil, and probe must all be cleaned with aviation gasoline prior to measurement and used for calibration. This method can be used to measure the thickness of a standard thickness sheet using three equal gauge blocks and a vertical optical meter. The measuring cap has a 20mm minimum radius of curve. To avoid impact on the standard thickness sheet when the measuring rod is lowered, the branch should be turned so that the measuring cap makes light touch with the sheet. For standard thickness sheets without effective area marks, the effective area shall be within a circle with the center as the center and a radius of not less than 10mm. The calibration points are 5 points equally dispersed throughout the effective area (including the Center point).
4 Uniformity error
Standard width sheet uniformity error is a requirement. Using the calibration technique, the uniformity error of the standard thickness sheet is calculated as the maximum difference between the thickness readings at each point and the average thickness value, and the value must not be greater than the specifications in Table 2.
