4 reasons why the soldering iron tip oxidizes too quickly and how to deal with it

1. Soldering tip quality issues: If the quality of the soldering tip is not up to par, it will seriously affect the use effect.

2. If the temperature is too high, it will heat up quickly and easily burn the soldering iron tip. The temperature setting has a lot to do with the soldering iron used. For example, when using an ordinary soldering iron, the temperature needs to be 350 degrees. However, due to insufficient power during use, it may need to be adjusted to 380 degrees.

3. The problem of insufficient maintenance: every time it is used up, it needs to be tinned to prevent oxidation.

4. The soldering iron tip is deformed or perforated.

How to deal with the rapid oxidation of the soldering iron tip
It is prohibited to use sharp tools or sandpaper to "scrat" the soldering iron tip to prevent damage to the service life of the soldering iron tip.

1. A soldering iron with poor quality will have a high temperature, while a good quality soldering iron will heat slowly, have a low temperature and will not easily burn the tip. In order to ensure the normal use of the soldering iron tip, you must pay attention to the quality when choosing.

2. High temperature will accelerate the oxidation of the soldering iron tip and reduce the life of the soldering iron tip. The higher the temperature, the shorter the service life of the soldering iron tip. For every 20°C increase, the service life of the soldering iron tip is reduced by half. Therefore, under the premise of meeting the welding conditions, low-temperature welding should be used as much as possible.

3. Put the soldering iron tip into the rosin and coat it with solder, roll it in it, and the oxide will fall off after a while. After using it normally, cover the tip with tin until it no longer sticks. Place it on a wet sponge the next time you use it. Just rub it and it will be very shiny.

4. Replace the soldering iron tip.

Precautions:
It is prohibited to use a file to remove oxides from the welding tip.

If the soldering iron tip is burned to death, showing a black layer, or the tin does not melt, you can use a blade to scrape the tip clean to expose the copper part. Scrape faster and don't use too much force. Use soldering wire immediately after scraping. Melt on top.

The disadvantage of this method is that if you do this for a long time, the life of the soldering iron tip will be shortened.

Note that when the soldering station is not in use, do not leave the soldering iron tip in a high temperature state for a long time. This will cause the flux on the soldering iron tip to convert into oxides, that is, the soldering iron tip will undergo oxidation, causing the thermal conductivity of the soldering iron tip to decrease.

When the soldering station is not in use, the power needs to be turned off, mainly for soldering stations that are not temperature controlled and do not have automatic sleep function.
