8 Special Applications of Clamp Ammeters

(1) When measuring, squeeze the wrench tightly and open it. The position of the current-carrying wire to be measured should be placed in the middle of the jaws to prevent measurement errors. Then release the wrench to close the iron core, and there will be an indication on the meter.

(2) When measuring, you should first estimate the size of the current or voltage being measured, select an appropriate range or use a larger range for measurement first, and then reduce the range depending on the size of the current or voltage being measured, so that the reading exceeds 1/2 of the scale. , in order to get more accurate readings.

(3) In order to obtain accurate readings, the two surfaces of the jaws should ensure good joints. If there is noise, open and close the jaws again. If the sound still exists, check whether there is dirt on the joint surface. If there is dirt, wipe it clean with gasoline.

(4) When measuring low-voltage fusible fuse or low-voltage bus current, adjacent phases should be isolated with insulating plates before measurement to prevent phase-to-phase short circuits that may occur when the jaws are opened.

(5) Some models of clamp ammeters are equipped with AC voltage scales. When measuring current and voltage, they should be measured separately, not at the same time.

(6) It cannot be used for high-voltage live measurements.

(7) After the measurement, be sure to place the adjustment switch in the maximum current range position to avoid damage to the instrument due to unselected range the next time it is used.

(8) In order to obtain more accurate readings when measuring currents less than 5A, if conditions permit, the wire can be wound a few more times and put into the jaws for measurement, but the actual current value should be the reading divided by the value placed in the jaws. Number of wires.
