A Few Maintenance Tips for Microscopes

.The service life of the microscope illumination bulb varies depending on operating hours. When replacing a failed bulb, the system must be reset to avoid unnecessary damage to the equipment. Before powering on or off each time, turn off the illumination system or set the brightness to the minimum to prevent sudden high-voltage surges from damaging the light source.

.To meet the requirements for surgical site selection, field-of-view size and clarity during an operation, the surgeon may adjust the displacement aperture, focal length, height and other parameters via the foot control panel. Adjustments shall be made gently and slowly. Stop immediately when reaching the limit position; idling beyond the limit will damage the motor and cause adjustment failure.

.After a period of use, the joint locks of the microscope may become excessively tight or loose. Adjust them to restore normal working condition as needed. Inspect all joints for looseness routinely before each use to prevent unexpected malfunctions during surgery.

.After each use, wipe off dirt and stains on the microscope with degreased cotton wipes. Stains will become difficult to remove if left for a long time. Cover the microscope with its protective cover and store it in a well-ventilated, dry, dust-free environment free of corrosive gases.

.Establish a maintenance schedule. Qualified personnel shall perform regular maintenance, inspection and adjustment, including overhaul and servicing of the mechanical system, observation system, illumination system, display system and electrical circuits. In summary, the microscope must be operated carefully without rough handling. To extend the service life of the surgical microscope, operators shall maintain it conscientiously and keep it in good working condition for optimal performance.
