About the maintenance of the soldering iron head

The tip of the soldering iron is a consumable item. Correct use and maintenance can greatly extend the life of the tip of the soldering iron. First of all, before using the new soldering iron tip for the first time, be sure to adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to 220 degrees, so that the tin part of the soldering iron tip can fully absorb the tin. It is best to soak it in the tin pile for 5 minutes, and then wipe it on a cleaning sponge. Try it clean, and adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to 300 degrees again, repeat the above procedure, and finally adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to the required temperature for use. The purpose of this is to form a protective film on the tin layer on the tip of the soldering iron to prevent direct oxidation of the new soldering iron tip at high temperature. Before leaving get off work every day, wipe the tip of the soldering iron on the cleaning sponge, and then apply a little fresh solder. By operating in the above way, the service life of the soldering iron tip can be maximized. It should be pointed out that the temperature of the soldering iron tip should not be too high. The higher the temperature, the shorter the life of the soldering iron tip. It is generally recommended to use a temperature of 350 degrees. Under normal circumstances, when the soldering iron is used at a temperature of 350 degrees and works 8 hours a day, and is maintained according to the normal maintenance procedures, the service life of the soldering iron tip is generally about 30,000 solder points.

When there is no work, make sure that there is tin protection on the tip. When welding, the operator should not scratch the board. The amount of water in the sponge rubbing the tip should be appropriate. It is advisable to lightly hold two or three drops of water. Clean the sponge every two hours or so before welding. Rub the sea surface before the operation, and do not rub it after the operation to prevent the tip from oxidizing. Usually, the operator should not use the tip to hit hard things to prevent damage to the coating on the tip surface.
