An introduction to the five basic steps in using a microscope

1. Place the microscope: Hold the mirror arm with your right hand and support the lens base with your left hand. Place the microscope on the experimental table, slightly to the left about 7 cm from the edge, and place the eyepieces and objective lenses.

2. Aiming at the light
1. Rotate the converter to align the low-magnification objective lens with the clear aperture. Keep a distance of 2 cm between the front end of the objective lens and the stage.
2. Aim a larger aperture at the light hole. Look at the eyepiece with your left eye, open your right eye, and turn the reflector to reflect the light into the lens barrel through the light hole. Until a brighter view is seen.

3. Place the slices
1. Place the slide specimen to be observed on the stage and press it with a pressing clamp. The specimen should be facing the center of the light hole.

4. Observation
1. Turn the coarse focus screw to slowly lower the lens barrel, and look at it from the side until the objective lens is close to the slide specimen to prevent the objective lens from touching the slide specimen.
2. Look into the eyepiece with your left eye, and at the same time turn the coarse focusing screw in the opposite direction to slowly raise the lens barrel until
until you can see the object clearly. Then turn the fine focus screw slightly to make the object image you see clearer.

5. Close the shot
1. Remove the slices
2. Turn the converter to align the low-magnification objective lens or the area without an objective lens with the light hole, lower the lens barrel, and approach the stage.
3. Place the reflector vertically

The process of making a microscope

1. Production method

A simple microscope is composed of four parts: lens, lens barrel, mirror column, and reflector.
1. Lens: Break the electric bead of a spotlight flashlight, remove the glass ball in front, and use pliers to remove the glass pieces around the glass ball. Choose 2 mm thick cardboard and cut it into 3 square pieces of 50×50 mm. Punch a small hole in the center so that the glass ball can fit right in, and then use adhesive to stick the three pieces of cardboard together.

2. Lens barrel and mirror column: Choose two pieces of glass each with a width of 50 mm and a length of 180 mm and 175 mm. First use transparent tape to stick the 4 pieces of glass
(2 pieces of the same length are opposite each other). Then wrap it with black tape or paint it black from top to bottom to 145 mm (leave space for the stage), and the remaining part is the mirror column.

3. Reflector: Cut a rectangular lens 55 mm long and 50 mm wide at an angle of 45° and fix it under the mirror column.

2. How to use
1. First place the slide with the specimen under the lens, and then align it with the lens. When observing, the distance between the eyes and the lens is about 5 mm
right.

2. The specimen cannot be larger than the lens.

3. If there is insufficient light, you can turn the microscope. Point the reflector toward the light.

A microscope is an optical instrument composed of one lens or a combination of several lenses. It is a symbol of mankind entering the atomic age. A microscope is an instrument mainly used to magnify small objects so that they can be seen by the naked eye.
