Application Notes for Thermometers
1. Only the surface temperature is measured, and the infrared thermometer cannot measure the internal temperature.
2. The wavelength above 5um cannot be used for temperature measurement through quartz glass. Glass has very special reflection and transmission characteristics, and infrared temperature readings are not allowed. But the temperature can be measured through the infrared window. Infrared thermometers are best not used for temperature measurement on bright or polished metal surfaces (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
3. Locate the hot spot. To find the hot spot, the instrument aims at the target, and then scans up and down on the target until the hot spot is determined.
4. Pay attention to environmental conditions: steam, dust, smoke, etc. It blocks the optical system of the instrument and affects the temperature measurement.
5. Ambient temperature. If the thermometer is suddenly exposed to an ambient temperature difference of 20°C or higher, allow the instrument to adjust to the new ambient temperature within 20 minutes.
Precautions for Infrared Thermometer
Problems that should be paid attention to when using infrared thermometers:
The temperature cannot be measured through the glass.
