Application of Bench Multimeters in the Pressure Sensor Industry
The sensor industry is a high-tech industry with promising development prospects recognized both at home and abroad. It has attracted worldwide attention for its high technological content, favorable economic benefits, strong penetration capability and broad market prospects. Many manufacturers are facing new opportunities and challenges. Beijing De'erwei Technology is willing to grow together with manufacturers in this process, enabling ESCORT instruments to play an important role in this field. Below is a brief introduction to the application of ESCORT bench multimeters in the pressure sensor industry.
About Sensors
A sensor is a device that can sense (or respond to) a specified measured variable and convert it into a usable output signal according to a certain rule. It usually consists of a sensing element that directly responds to the measured variable, a conversion element that generates a usable output signal, and corresponding electronic circuits.
At present, the accuracy of most domestic pressure sensors is below 0.25%, and the main output form is 4–20 mA current.
There are many types of pressure sensors, such as resistance strain gauge pressure sensors, semiconductor strain gauge pressure sensors, piezoresistive pressure sensors, capacitive pressure sensors, piezoelectric pressure sensors, resonant pressure sensors, optical fiber pressure sensors, etc.
Strict quality verification is required before pressure sensors leave the factory to ensure that they meet various user requirements and adapt to various industrial on-site environments. There are many verification methods, and this article mainly introduces quality inspection using ESCORT bench multimeters.
Mainstream domestic pressure sensors require a voltage resolution of up to 1 μV for their converted output, which requires a verification instrument of at least five digits. The ESCORT-3146A is a high-precision 5½-digit meter with 120,000 counts. Its DC voltage range (120 mV, accuracy 0.012%+5) is fully competent for sensor calibration in this process. For the 4–20 mA current output of pressure sensors, the ESCORT-3146A's DC current range (12 mA, accuracy up to 0.05%) and Auto Range function allow convenient testing. The best resistance measurement resolution of the ESCORT-3146A reaches 1 mΩ, which is more than sufficient for adjusting the resistance of resistance strain gauges. Its unique dual-display function and high/low limit alarm function bring great convenience to the production process.
It can be seen that the ESCORT-3146A fully meets production requirements for key verification procedures of pressure sensors. With its high cost performance, it not only satisfies technical applications but also saves costs for manufacturers, making it an ideal choice for sensor manufacturers.
