Application of Ultrasonic Range Finder

Ultrasonic distance measurement is mainly used for distance measurement of reversing reminders, construction sites, industrial sites, etc.

Ultrasound propagates at different speeds in gas, liquid and solid, with good orientation, concentrated energy, less attenuation during transmission, and strong reflection ability. Ultrasonic waves can propagate directionally at a certain speed and form reflections when encountering obstacles. Using this feature, the actual distance can be calculated by measuring the round-trip time of the ultrasonic wave, thereby realizing the non-contact measurement of the object distance. Ultrasonic distance measurement is fast, convenient, and not affected by factors such as light. It is widely used in hydrological liquid level measurement, construction site measurement, on-site position monitoring, vibration instrument vehicle reversing obstacle detection, mobile machine entry detection and positioning, etc. . The digital ultrasonic rangefinder designed in this paper counts the clock pulses input to the counter at a specific frequency within the ultrasonic round-trip time, and then displays the corresponding measurement distance.

Classification of electromagnetic wave range finder

1. According to the principle of distance measurement, it can be divided into pulse method distance meter and phase method distance meter. The former is a pulse generator that emits light pulses, and uses the number of pulses at the time interval of the pulse to travel back and forth on the survey line to obtain the distance, such as laser moon finders, laser satellite range finders, etc. The latter is a continuous sinusoidal modulation wave emitted by the range finder, and the phase shift generated by the back and forth propagation of the modulation wave on the survey line is measured to obtain the distance, such as laser range finder, infrared range finder, etc. The instrument using the phase method for distance measurement has short measurement range and high precision, and is often used in geodetic surveying.

2. According to the carrier, the electromagnetic wave in the microwave segment or the light wave as the carrier are called microwave range finders or photoelectric range finders. The photoelectric range finder with laser or infrared light as the carrier is called laser range finder or infrared range finder respectively. The infrared rangefinder uses fluorescence developed by gallium arsenide light-emitting diodes as the carrier source, and the intensity of the emitted infrared rays can vary with the intensity of the injected electrical signal. Therefore, it has the dual functions of carrier source and modulator. Gallium arsenide light-emitting diodes are small in size, high in brightness, low in power consumption, long in life, and continuously emit light, so infrared range finders are widely used. The electromagnetic wave rangefinder has the advantages of high precision, rapid operation, and little influence by climate and terrain.
