Applications of metallographic microscopes in various industries

These opaque objects cannot be observed in ordinary transmitted light microscopes, so the main difference between metallography and ordinary microscopes is that the former uses reflected light, while the latter uses transmitted light for illumination.

Because there are five types of lenses for metallographic microscopes: EPI brightfield fluorescence; BD brightfield; SLWD ultra-long working distance; ELWD enhanced working distance; and those with correction rings. In the hardware industry, there are some hardware parts that are seriously reflective, so you can choose a BD light and dark field objective lens for observation. For another example, in the LCD industry, when observing and measuring conductive particles, a metallographic microscope can also be equipped with a DIC, which can make the object look more three-dimensional. Because it is polarized, a set of two color filters form a polarized microscopic observation technology. According to the birefringence performance, the direction of the light path is directionally changed. Of course, polarized light can only be used with DIC, and it is meaningless alone. Metallurgical microscopes are used for measurement and analysis of tiny dimensions such as IC components and metallographic sections.
