Calibration, operation, common faults and troubleshooting methods of digital stereoscopic microscope

The stereomicroscope system organically combines traditional optical microscopes with computers (digital cameras) through an electronic eyepiece. It not only allows microscopic observation through the eyepiece, but also displays real-time dynamic images of the observed object through the computer, and can edit, save, and print the captured images. When observing an object, a digital stereoscopic microscope can generate an upright three-dimensional spatial image, with strong stereoscopic sense, clear and wide imaging, and a long working distance. Different types of reflected and transmitted light illumination can be selected according to the characteristics of the object being observed. Stereoscopic microscope is a widely applicable conventional microscope. Continuous magnification can be achieved for viewing the same object, and physical images can be directly observed on a TV or computer. Stereoscopic microscopes have high resolution and wide field of view clarity, reliable performance, simple operation, convenient use, and beautiful appearance. They can be used for teaching demonstrations, biological anatomy, and observation analysis.

Adjustment and operation of stereoscopic microscope: The adjustment of stereoscopic microscope before use mainly includes several steps: focusing, visual adjustment, pupil distance adjustment, and bulb replacement.

1. Focusing

Place the workbench into the mounting hole on the base. When observing transparent specimens, use a ground glass table; When observing opaque specimens, use a black and white table. Then loosen the fastening screws on the focusing slide and adjust the height of the mirror body to a working distance that is roughly the same as the magnification of the selected objective lens. After adjustment, the fastening screws must be locked tightly. When focusing, it is recommended to choose a flat object, such as a flat paper with characters printed on it, a ruler, a triangle, etc.

2. Visual adjustment

First, adjust the visibility circles on both the left and right eyepieces to the 0 mark position. Usually, observe from the right eye tube first. Turn the zoom handwheel to the low magnification position, rotate the focusing handwheel and the visibility adjustment circle to adjust the specimen until the image of the specimen is clear. Then, turn the zoom handwheel to the high magnification position to continue adjusting until the image of the specimen is clear. At this time, observe with the left eye lens tube, and if not clear, adjust the visibility circle on the left eye lens tube axially until the image of the specimen is clear.

3. Pupillary distance adjustment

Pulling the binocular lens barrel can change the distance between the exit pupils of the binocular lens barrel. When the user observes that the two circular fields of view completely coincide, it indicates that the pupil distance has been adjusted. It should be noted that due to individual differences in visual acuity and eye adjustment, different users or even the same user should adjust their focus separately when using the same microscope at different times in order to achieve better observation results

Common faults and troubleshooting methods

(1) The field of view is blurry or has dirt, which may be due to the presence of dirt on the specimen, eyepiece surface, objective lens surface, or working plate surface. Clean the dirt on the surface of the specimen, eyepiece, objective, and workboard according to the actual situation.

(2) The possible reason for non coincidence of dual images is incorrect adjustment of pupil distance, and measures to correct pupil distance can be taken. If the dual images do not overlap, it may also be due to incorrect visual adjustment. It is possible to adjust the visual angle again, or it may be due to different magnification of the left and right eyepieces. The eyepieces can be checked and reinstalled with the same magnification.

(3) If the image is unclear, it may be due to dirt on the surface of the objective lens. Please clean the objective lens. If the image is not clear when zooming, it may be due to incorrect visual adjustment and focusing. You can adjust the visual angle and focus again.

(4) If the light bulb frequently burns out and the light flickers intermittently, it may be due to high local voltage, rapid burning of the bulb, or wire connection. Please carefully check whether the voltage and the wire connection of the microscope are secure. If no abnormalities are found, it may be due to rapid burning of the bulb, which can be solved by replacing the bulb.
