Can clamp ammeter measure DC?

The clamp ammeter is a special instrument for measuring alternating current. Its front end is a current transformer. It realizes the measurement task through the principle of electromagnetic induction.

Clamp ammeters cannot test DC current, because DC does not have an alternating magnetic field, so no secondary current will be generated in the clamp transformer, so it is impossible to measure DC current with a clamp ammeter.

Clamp ammeters are generally used to measure alternating current. It is made according to the principle of AC spiral current, which is somewhat similar to a transformer, and obtains signals through electromagnetic induction. I always use ammeters to measure DC in series with the circuit, but theoretically, it is possible to make a DC clamp meter. Alternating current is used in much the same way. Select the appropriate range, put a wire to be tested into the center of the jaw, and the corresponding current will be displayed on the display.
