Classification of voltage testers

Classify according to the level of measured voltage

1. High voltage testing pen: used for 10kV and above project operations, as a daily testing tool for electricians;

2. Low voltage measuring pen: used for detecting charged objects with a line voltage of 500V and below.

3. Weak current test pen: used for testing electronic products, with a general test voltage of 6v -24v. For ease of use, the pen often comes with a lead wire with a clamp at the end.

Classification by contact method

1. Contact type measuring pen: A detection tool that obtains electrical signals by contacting a charged object. Usually in the form of a straight screwdriver, it can be used as a measuring pen and a straight screwdriver; Pen style, displaying measurement data directly in the LCD window.

2. Inductive testing pen: Adopting inductive testing, without physical contact, it can check the voltage on control wires, conductors, and sockets, or check the position of open circuits along the wires. It can greatly ensure the personal safety of testing personnel.

The structure of the measuring pen

A test pen generally consists of a metal body at the tip of the pen, a resistor, a neon tube (small window), a spring, and a metal body at the end of the pen. When testing a charged object with a test pen, as long as the charged object, pen, and human body form a circuit with the ground, and the potential difference between the charged object and the ground exceeds a certain value (such as 60 volts), the neon tube in the test pen will emit light (whether its potential is AC or DC), which tells people that the tested object is charged and exceeds a certain voltage intensity!
