Common faults of gas detector after water ingress
1. Corrosion of the instrument shell
If it is washed by rain for a long time, the shell of the gas detection alarm is easy to corrode, which will cause the instrument to wear and become thinner and crack, which will affect its accuracy and sensitivity and cause damage.
2. The instrument is short-circuited by water
If the instrument is exposed to rain for a long time or the glass cover is not fastened in place after opening, rainwater will flow into the instrument. If the instrument is not powered off, it will cause a short circuit on the instrument circuit board and affect its normal operation.
3. The internal components of the instrument are corroded and damaged
Water or long-term immersion of the instrument will cause mildew on the internal circuit board of the instrument, scrapping of the internal chip of the sensor, damage to the pressure diaphragm, corrosion and damage to the signal board, etc., making it unusable.
How to protect the gas detector and ensure the accuracy of detection?
1. Install the rain cover
Install a rain cover on the instrument to protect the instrument from rain in rainy days. Effectively avoid water damage to the instrument, thereby prolonging the service life of the instrument.
2. Strengthen the glass cover of the instrument
Checking the glass cover is a routine maintenance work for gas detection alarms. During the rainy season, maintenance personnel should increase the frequency of inspections. The glass cover is not fastened in place. When no liquid seeps into the glass cover, it can be tightened; if liquid has penetrated into the glass cover, stop the instrument and dry it quickly. If the calibration data is abnormal after power on again, the instrument should be checked. repair.
3. Timely maintenance
Although the protection level of the current instruments generally reaches IP66, due to the influence of special weather and manual operation errors, the phenomenon of water ingress and immersion of the instrument occurs from time to time. The staff should conduct inspections in time, and if any abnormalities are found, they should contact professionals or return to the factory for repairs in time.
