Common problems when using a trace moisture analyzer
1. The color of the anode electrolyte is not bright yellow, but between brown and dark yellow.
Reason: The electrolyte color of the moisture analyzer is too dark, which is a decrease in the electrode's responsiveness to the electrolyte.
Solution: You can use a tissue to clean the double platinum needle electrode and remove the adsorbed substances on the surface; Check if the measuring electrode is connected properly; The measuring electrode may malfunction.
2. Pre titrate fresh anode electrolyte, drift too high
Reason: There is residual water in the titration system.
Solution: The molecular sieve and silica gel inside the drying tube can be replaced, and the electrode interfaces and plug interfaces of the titration table can be checked for tightness; Silicone grease can be applied appropriately to some loose interfaces.
3. What is the reason for high drift during standby titration
Reason: Water in the cathode pool seeps into the anode pool through the diaphragm.
Solution 1: The anode pool electrolyte can be replaced; Add a small amount of single component volumetric Karl Fischer reagent to the cathode electrolysis cell for drying; Maintain the liquid level of the anode liquid above the liquid level in the cathode pool.
Solution 2: Effectively clean the titration cup and eliminate the continuous side reactions caused by the residual samples from the previous experiment; Check the sealing of the titration system.
4. The drift value of the sample after titration is very high
Reason: The test sample had a side reaction with the anode electrolyte, resulting in water.
Solution 1: Replace with another type of anode electrolyte or replace with another sample pretreatment method
Solution 2: Allow some volatile components in the sample to have side reactions with the Karl Fischer reagent.
Solution 3: Improve the sample pretreatment method.
5. Long titration time without interruption
Reason 1: Improper selection of control parameters.
Solution: You can use relative drift termination as the end parameter, increase the relative drift termination value, and increase the endpoint.
Reason 2: The conductivity of the anode electrolyte is too low
Solution: The anode electrolyte needs to be replaced.
