Correct use and maintenance of microscopes

Keeping the optical components clean is very important to ensure good optical performance. When the microscope is not in use, the microscope should be covered with the dust cover provided with the instrument. If there is dust and dirt on the optical surface and instrument, use a blower to blow off the dust or use a soft brush to remove the dirt before wiping the surface.
Optical surfaces should be cleaned with lint-free cotton cloth, lens tissue, or cotton swabs moistened with special lens cleaning fluid. Please avoid using too much solvent. Lens cleaning paper or cotton swabs should be properly moistened with solvent, but do not use too much solvent to penetrate into the objective lens, resulting in a decrease in the clarity of the objective lens and damage to the objective lens.

The surface lens of the eyepiece and objective lens in a microscope is most susceptible to dust, dirt and oil. When contrast, clarity is reduced, or fogging occurs, you need to use a magnifying glass to carefully check the condition of the eyepiece and the lens in front of the objective lens.

Low-magnification objectives have a fairly large front lens, which can be wiped with a cotton cloth or cotton swab wrapped around your finger and lens cleaning paper moistened with ethanol. 40X and 100X need to be carefully inspected with a magnifying glass. In order to achieve high flatness in high-power lenses, a front lens with a concave surface with a small radius of curvature is used. When wiping this lens, use a toothpick or cotton swab with a cotton ball to clean it. Be gentle when wiping the lens surface. Do not use excessive force or scratching motions, and make sure the cotton swab touches the concave surface of the lens. After cleaning, use a magnifying glass to check whether the objective lens is damaged. If you must remove the observation tube, be careful not to touch the exposed lens under the lens tube. If there are fingerprints on the surface of the lens, it will reduce the clarity of the image. Use the method of cleaning the objective eyepiece. wipe.

When the 100X oil lens on the microscope is used up, please wipe the surface of the oil lens clearly in time and check whether the 40X objective lens is stained with oil. If so, please wipe it off in time. Keep the microscope image clear at all times.

Instrument maintenance
The use of a dust cover is the most important factor in keeping your microscope in good mechanical and physical condition. If the outer shell of the microscope is stained, it can be cleaned with ethanol or soapy water (other organic solvents are not required), but do not let these cleaning fluids penetrate into the inside of the microscope, causing a short circuit or burning of the electronic components inside the microscope.

Keep the place where the microscope is used dry. When the microscope works in an environment with high humidity for a long time, it is easy to increase the chance of mildew. Therefore, if the microscope has to work in these environments with high humidity, it is recommended to use a dehumidifier. In addition, if you find fogging, mildew, or other bad conditions on the surface of the optical components, please contact a professional immediately for professional maintenance of your microscope.
