Correspondence between wattage and temperature of electric soldering iron

What is the proper temperature for the soldering iron?

This is determined by the actual application needs of the soldering iron. Generally speaking, the temperature when the soldering iron can solder a tin point in 4 seconds is a more suitable temperature. If the soldering iron turns purple, it means that the temperature is too high.

Specifically, when it is necessary to directly insert electronic materials, the temperature of the soldering iron tip should be set between 330-370 degrees. If it is a surface mount material, the temperature should be between 300-320 degrees. At a temperature of 290 degrees, the soldering temperature of large component feet cannot exceed 380 degrees. In addition, for special materials, special temperature settings are required.

The corresponding temperature of the electric soldering iron power mark
1. Mark 20-25W, and the corresponding welding temperature is 200-250 degrees;

2. Mark 30-35W, and the corresponding welding temperature is 250-300 degrees;

3. Mark 40-45W, and the corresponding welding temperature is 280-350 degrees;

4. Mark 50W, the corresponding welding temperature is 320-380 degrees;

5. Mark 60W, the corresponding welding temperature is 320-400 degrees;

6. Mark 75-80W, and the corresponding welding temperature is 350-400 degrees;

7. Marked 100W, the corresponding welding temperature is 380-450 degrees;

Different wattages have different heating temperatures.

Temperature control of electric soldering iron
For the solder joints of SMD components and thin-foot components (such as wires, LEDs, etc.), the temperature of the soldering iron is generally implemented according to the following standards:

Lead soldering: the temperature is controlled at 250-350 degrees;

Lead-free soldering: the temperature is controlled at 320-400 degrees;

For solder joints with faster heat dissipation and more tin addition (such as battery positive and negative polarity sheets, etc.), the temperature of the soldering iron is generally implemented according to the following standards:

Lead soldering: the temperature is controlled at 280-380 degrees;

Lead-free soldering: the temperature is controlled at 350-420 degrees.
