Current knowledge on the proper use of clamp meters for measuring AC current

1. The line current in a star connection circuit is equal to the phase current.

2. In the delta connection current, the zero line current is equal to the two-phase current.

3. Calculate the rated current according to the equipment power P; three-phase motor 1KW≈2A single-phase motor 1KW≈4.5A

(A) The tester should wear gloves, flatten the end of the watch, and open the jaws.

(B) Put the lead wire under test into the jaws, and then close the jaws.

(C) Clamp two wires at the same time, the displayed current value should be the current of the third wire.

(D) If in a three-phase four-wire system, three-phase wires are clamped at the same time for measurement, the indicated current value should be the current value on the working zero wire.

(E) If the current on the wire is too small, even if the measurement is placed in the minimum current range, the deflection angle of the pointer is still very small (so the reading is not accurate), you can wind the wire around the clip for several times (as shown in the four circles) )) After measurement, divide the reading by the number of turns, which is the actual measured current of the wire under test. ,
