Mechanical multimeter, also known as analog multimeter and pointer multimeter, is the earliest three-purpose meter for testing electrical equipment. It is divided into resistance range, current range and voltage range.


The current and voltage gears are divided into DC and AC gears. AC voltage is not divided into positive and negative. For example, to detect 220v household AC power, you only need to set the gear to 250v or 500v and check the pointer swing. The second grid on the dial is For current and voltage levels, the 250 level used for 220v should be set between 250 and 200.


For the 500v level, check the 50 meter below. For 220v, it should be 2/3 more than the 20th digit, and then multiply by 10. It is not as accurate as the digital meter, but it can be sure that the voltage is normal. Check the 10th digit for 1000v, the third one, 220v is a little behind 2, just multiply the reading by 100.


The DC voltage is divided into positive and negative. The red test lead is positive and the black test lead is negative. Don't make a mistake, otherwise the meter needle will point backwards, which will damage the meter in the long run. The opposite is true when detecting the second and third level tubes. At this time, the black test lead is positive and the red test lead is negative.


The current level is not used much, just plug it into the circuit and skip it.


The resistance range is widely used, which is why digital meters are slightly inferior to analog multimeters. However, they need to be zeroed, which is the most annoying thing. Moreover, their durability is not as good as digital meters, and they are easy to break and break. However, the leakage detection of circuits and electronic components is stronger than that of digital meters, and reaching the 10k level can basically solve most circuit leakage problems.


The method of use is to reach a certain resistance level and zero it first, such as the 1k level. Then multiply the pointer position by 1k, and the same goes for other levels. If the pointer returns to zero, go to 100 or 10 gears. Most pointer watches do not have a buzzer level. Selecting level 1 can determine whether the wire is connected or not.
