Differentiation of types of regulated power sources
① AC/DC power supply This type of power supply, also known as a primary power supply, obtains energy from the power grid, undergoes high-voltage rectification and filtering to obtain a DC high voltage, which is used by the DC/DC converter to obtain one or several stable DC voltages at the output end. The power can range from a few watts to several thousand watts, and is used in different occasions. There are various specifications and models of this type of product, and the primary power supply (AC220 input, DC48V or 24V output) in communication power supply is also included in this category according to user needs
② DC/DC power supply, also known as secondary power supply in communication systems, is a DC input voltage provided by a primary power supply or DC battery pack. After DC/DC conversion, one or several DC voltages are obtained at the output end.
③ Communication power supply Communication power supply is essentially a DC/DC converter type power supply, but it generally uses DC -48V or -24V power supply, and uses Backup battery as the backup of DC power supply to convert the DC power supply voltage into the working voltage of the circuit. Generally, it is divided into central power supply, hierarchical power supply and single board power supply. The latter has high reliability.
④ Radio power: The radio power input is AC220V/110V, and the output is DC13.8V. The power is determined by the supplied radio power, and there are products available in several amperes and hundreds of amperes. To prevent AC grid power outage from affecting the operation of the radio, a battery pack is required as a backup. Therefore, in addition to outputting a 13.8V DC voltage, this type of power supply also has an automatic conversion function for battery charging.
⑤ With the rapid development of science and technology, modular power supplies have increasingly high requirements for power reliability and capacity/volume ratio. Modular power supplies are showing their advantages, such as high working frequency, small size, high reliability, and easy installation and combined expansion. Therefore, they are increasingly widely used. At present, although there are corresponding modules produced in China, the production process has not caught up with international standards, resulting in a high failure rate. Although the current cost of DC/DC module power supply is relatively high, considering the overall cost of the product's long application cycle, especially the high maintenance costs and goodwill losses caused by system failures, choosing this power module is still cost-effective. It is also worth mentioning the Roche converter circuit, which has the outstanding advantages of simple circuit structure, high efficiency, and output voltage and current ripple values close to zero.
⑥ Special power supplies such as high voltage low current power supplies, high current power supplies, and AC/DC power supplies with 400Hz input can be classified into this category and can be selected according to special needs. The price range of switching power supplies is generally between 2-8 yuan/watt, with slightly higher prices for special low-power and high-power power supplies, up to 11-13 yuan/watt.
