Display digits and display features for digital multimeters
The display digits of a digital multimeter are usually 31/2 to 81/2 digits. There are two principles for judging the display digits of a digital instrument:
One is that the digits that can display all numbers from 0-9 are integer digits;
The second is that the numerical value of the fractional digit is the numerator of the highest digit in the maximum display value, and the count value is 2000 when the full scale is used, which indicates that the instrument has 3 integer digits, and the numerator of the fractional digit is 1, and the denominator is 2, so it is called 31/2 bits, read as "three and a half digits", and its highest bit can only display 0 or 1 (0 is usually not displayed).
The highest digit of a 32/3-digit (pronounced "three and two-thirds") digital multimeter can only display numbers from 0 to 2, so the maximum display value is ±2999. Under the same conditions, it is 50% higher than the limit of a 31/2-digit digital multimeter, which is especially valuable when measuring 380V AC voltage.
For example, when using a digital multimeter to measure grid voltage, the highest digit of an ordinary 31/2-digit digital multimeter can only be 0 or 1. If you want to measure 220V or 380V grid voltage, you can only use three digits to display it. The resolution of this file is only is 1V.
In contrast, using a 33/4-digit digital multimeter to measure the grid voltage, the highest digit can display 0 to 3, so that it can be displayed in four digits with a resolution of 0.1V, which is the same as a 41/2-digit digital multimeter. .
Popular digital multimeters generally belong to handheld multimeters with 31/2 digits display, and 41/2, 51/2 digits (below 6 digits) digital multimeters are divided into handheld and desktop. More than 61/2 digits are mostly desktop digital multimeters.
