Enlarging the range of the current range of the clamp ammeter

If the current of the circuit to be tested is less than the current of the minimum range of the clamp ammeter (such as <5A), and the measured value cannot be read out, the wire of the circuit to be tested can be wound several times in the jaw (set as N circles). At this time Divide the current value indicated by the meter head by the number of turns N, which is the current value to be measured.
If the current to be measured is greater than the maximum range current transformer. The method is: connect the times of the current transformer in the load circuit into a short circuit, clamp the jaws of the clamp ammeter into the short-circuit wire of the secondary pole, and multiply the measured current by the change of the current transformer, which is the measured load current. value.

The following issues should be paid attention to when using the clamp ammeter:
When the measured current is small, the current-carrying wire can be wound several times and put into the jaws for measurement. However, the actual current value can be obtained by dividing the reading by the number of coils. After the measurement is completed, put the adjustment switch in the maximum range position (or off position) for safe use next time.

Do not switch gears during measurement.

Note that the voltage on the circuit should be lower than the rated value of the clamp ammeter, and the current of the high-voltage circuit cannot be measured with the clamp ammeter, otherwise accidents or electric shocks may easily occur.

How to use the clamp ammeter
When measuring current, you only need to clamp the wire to be measured in the core of the clip-on ammeter, and then read the reading on the digital display or indicator board. It is very easy to use. Just clamp the measuring wires tight. However, with the widespread use of digital clamp ammeters, many functions have been added to the clamp ammeter, such as voltage, temperature, resistance, etc. (sometimes called a clamp multimeter, as shown on the right, the instrument has two probe sockets) . Different functions can be selected by turning the button, and the usage method is similar to that of an ordinary digital multimeter. For the meaning of some special function buttons, please refer to the corresponding instructions.
