How do electricians choose a multimeter that suits them?

A multimeter is one of the essential tools for electrical workers or electronic circuit enthusiasts. Choosing a multimeter should be based on the actual situation. The functions of a multimeter are available in all brands, and choosing the one that suits oneself is the best.

For example, electricians often use multimeters for AC and DC voltage, resistance, on/off buzzer, and capacitor settings. As long as the voltage, resistance, capacitor settings, and range are sufficient, they are sufficient.

If it is used for electronic circuits, in addition to meeting the previous conditions, there should also be a three-level transistor measurement mode and a temperature measurement mode. Especially in the capacitance measurement mode, it is necessary to meet the measurement needs. Many capacitors on circuit boards have a capacity of 1 picofarad, so the capacitance measurement range of a multimeter must be able to measure components with small capacities on electronic circuits. Some multimeters measure capacitance by inserting the pins of the capacitor into the capacitance measurement port on the meter, while others do not need to be inserted into the meter for measurement. Simply adjust the gear to the capacitance measurement mode and use two probes to directly measure the capacitance.

There are two types of multimeters: manual range and automatic range. There is also compatibility between manual range and automatic range. The advantage of automatic range is that it can avoid setting the wrong measurement gear and burning out the multimeter. Of course, its price is higher than that of manual range multimeters. In short, there are many brands and styles of multimeters, and choosing the one that suits oneself is the best.
