How long must the soldering iron be heated and how long can it be used without damage to the soldering iron?

Turn on the electricity and heat it for about 3 minutes to melt the solder and you can start working. The soldering iron cannot be burned empty and can work continuously.
1. Continuous empty burning of ordinary electric soldering irons will cause oxidation of the soldering iron tip and affect its service life.

2. If you continue dry firing, you will find that the copper in the heating part of the soldering iron has burned red, which will affect the service life of the soldering iron.

3. Continuous work, such as welding all the time, will not cause empty burning, and long-term work will not damage the soldering iron.

4. The constant temperature soldering iron can be powered on all the time because the temperature will not be too high.

1. Electric soldering irons are divided into two types: external heating type and internal heating type:
(1) The external heating electric soldering iron consists of a soldering iron head, a soldering iron core, a shell, a wooden handle, a power lead, a plug and other parts. Because the soldering iron tip is installed inside the soldering iron core, it is called an externally heated soldering iron. The soldering iron core is a key component of the electric soldering iron. It consists of a heating wire wound in parallel on a hollow porcelain tube. The mica sheet in the middle is insulated, and two wires are drawn out to connect to the 220V AC power supply. There are many specifications for external heating soldering irons, commonly used ones are 25W, 45W, 75W, 100W, etc. The higher the power, the higher the temperature of the soldering iron tip .

(2) The internal heating electric soldering iron consists of a handle, a connecting rod, a spring clip, a soldering iron core, and a soldering iron tip. Because the soldering iron core is installed inside the soldering iron head, it heats up quickly and has a high heat utilization rate. Therefore, it is called an internally heated soldering iron. The common specifications of internal heating soldering irons are 20W and 50W. Due to its high thermal efficiency, a 20W internal heating soldering iron is equivalent to an external heating soldering iron of about 40W. The rear end of the internal heating soldering iron is hollow and is used to be sleeved on the connecting rod and fixed with a spring clip. When the soldering iron tip needs to be replaced, the spring clip must be withdrawn first and the front end of the soldering iron tip must be clamped with pliers. Pull it out slowly and remember not to use too much force to avoid damaging the connecting rod.

2. During mobile phone repair, components on the circuit board often need to be replaced, which requires the use of a soldering iron, and the requirements for it are also very high. This is because the components of mobile phones use surface mounting technology, the components are small in size, highly integrated, the printed circuits are fine, and the pads are small. If the soldering iron is improperly selected, it is easy to cause human faults during the welding process, such as virtual soldering, short circuit or even damaged circuit boards. Therefore, try to use a high-end soldering iron, such as a constant temperature adjustable anti-static soldering iron. In addition, the welding of some large components such as shields requires the use of a high-power soldering iron, so an ordinary soldering iron with a thick head of more than 60W must be prepared.
