How stereomicroscopes differ from ordinary optical microscopes

A general optical microscope is a precision optical instrument. Whereas simple microscopes in the past consisted of only a few lenses, the microscopes currently in use consist of a set of lenses. An ordinary light microscope can usually magnify an object 1500-2000 times. The construction of a general optical microscope can be divided into two main parts: one is the mechanical device and the other is the optical system, and these two parts work well together in order to fulfil the function of the microscope.

Stereomicroscope
Stereomicroscope principle, the structure of the stereomicroscope is a common primary objective lens, the object after imaging the two beams of light by the two groups of intermediate objective lenses, also known as the zoom lens to separate, and composed of a certain angle known as the stereomicroscope angle is generally 12 degrees - 15 degrees, and then by the respective eyepieces imaging, its magnification changes are obtained by changing the distance between the intermediate mirror group, the use of dual-channel optical path, binocular barrels in the right and left beams of light Instead of being parallel, they have a certain angle, providing a stereoscopic image for the left and right eyes. It is essentially two monocular microscopes placed side by side, the optical axis of the two barrels constitute the equivalent of people with binocular observation of an object when the formation of the angle of view, so as to form a stereoscopic visual image of three-dimensional space.

The difference between the two:
Stereo microscope and ordinary optical microscope is similar to the use of methods, but more convenient, the main difference between the two is that: stereo microscope pots can be made without the object of microscopy into mounts; stereo microscope cutting table is fixed directly in the mirror base, and equipped with a black and white double-sided panels or glass panels, the operator can be based on the object of microscopic examination and the requirements of the choice; stereo microscope imaging is upright, to facilitate the anatomical operation of the discernment of the orientation, the stereo microscope objective lens. There is only one objective lens in the stereomicroscope, and its magnification can be adjusted continuously by rotating the adjusting screw.
