We should know the type and concentration range of the gas to be detected, and the gases produced by different production processes and links in the production department are also different. Sometimes they are the same, but it is also possible. Suitable gas detectors should be selected based on the situation that occurs. If you want to prioritize the detection of carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulfide, we must consider using gas detectors as a preferred choice to ensure personnel safety. If the concentration of toxic and harmful gases is relatively low, such as halogenated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, rice, alcohols, amines, etc., other gas detectors should be selected.


When choosing a gas detector, the following aspects should also be noted:
1. Pay attention to routine calibration and testing, and use relative comparison method to measure and evaluate toxic and harmful gas detectors. Firstly, calibrate the instrument with zero gas and standard concentration gas, obtain the standard curve, and store it in the equipment. This instrument compares the electrical signal formed by the change in target gas concentration with the standard curve concentration, in order to calculate the accurate gas concentration value. Therefore, before using the gas detector and after replacing the sensor, it is necessary to calibrate the instrument to ensure that it plays a protective role during use.


2. The main detection interference of different gases on sensors. Generally speaking, each sensor can only correspond to a specific gas, but no gas detector can be absolutely special. It is important to understand the detection interference of other gases on the sensor as much as possible to ensure accurate detection of the target gas.


3. Attention should be paid to the lifespan of the sensor: Generally speaking, portable gas detectors equipped with LEL sensors have a longer lifespan, up to about three years; Some can last up to four years or longer; The lifespan of an electrochemical sensor for a gas is relatively short, usually up to one to two years.


4. Attention should be paid to the concentration range of the gas detector: When gas is detected, its accuracy can only be guaranteed within its measurement range. If it exceeds the measurement range for a long time, it will cause fatal damage to the sensor and greatly shorten its service life; High concentration and long-term operation of toxic and harmful gas detectors can also cause damage.
