How to deal with the oxidation and blackening of the soldering iron tip.
The reason for the oxidation of the soldering iron is that the user did not maintain the soldering iron tip. To deal with the oxidized black soldering iron tip, first use a small knife to scrape off the black layer on the soldering iron tip until the copper color is yellow. Then add rosin and solder it. Remember to fill the front with solder when not using a soldering iron, this is called maintaining the soldering iron tip. There will be no oxidation or blackening.
Use a small knife or fine gauze to remove the surface oxide layer, then dip the soldering iron tip in rosin and coat it with solder. Note that if not in use for a long time, it is best to lower the temperature or directly turn off the soldering iron.
Replace the soldering iron tip with a better one, otherwise any effort will be in vain. If you tin it, it will oxidize and become non stick. When using it normally, first apply rosin.
Scrape with a knife to expose the white tip, dip it in some rosin, and then add solder. When not using a soldering iron, make sure to add solder to burn the tip, otherwise it will not stick to the solder.
How to solve the problem of non stick soldering of soldering iron tips
1. Prepare high-quality solder, rosin, and high-temperature sponge. Connect the electric soldering iron to the power source, wait for its temperature to rise, insert the soldering iron tip into the rosin, and shake it back and forth. Then take out the prepared solder and melt it by touching the soldering iron tip.
2. If the soldering iron tip has already oxidized and turned black, you can prepare a file (if you don't have a file, you can also prepare sandpaper) to polish the soldering iron tip with a file or sandpaper, and remove the black oxide layer on the surface of the soldering iron tip.
3. The soldering iron tip is usually made of copper metal, which forms black copper oxide (CuO) on the surface after oxidation. Copper oxide is non stick to soldering and can be treated by inserting the soldering iron tip into a 90% alcohol solution. It should be noted that the unheated state should be put in, then powered on, and removed after 1-2 minutes to solve the problem of oxidation and non stick soldering.
