Methods for Extending the Service Life of Metallurgical Microscopes The following points should be noted during microscope operation (illustrated by taking metallurgical microscope operation as an example only):
① Where conditions permit, it is recommended that the laboratory meet three protective requirements: vibration isolation (kept away from vibration sources), moisture proof (with air conditioners and dehumidifiers), and dust proof (with floor covering installed). Power supply: 220V±10%, 50Hz; Ambient temperature: 0°C – 40°C.
② Avoid striking the objective lens against the specimen during focusing to prevent lens scratches.
③ Do not switch objectives when the center of the circular hole on the stage insert is misaligned with the objective lens center, so as not to scratch the objective lens.
④ Do not adjust the brightness abruptly up or down, and avoid excessive brightness. Over-brightness will shorten the bulb service life and also impair eyesight.
⑤ All function switching operations shall be performed gently and fully engaged.
⑥ Turn the brightness to the minimum level before powering off the equipment.
⑦ Non-professional personnel shall not adjust the illumination system (e.g. filament position), so as not to degrade imaging quality.
⑧ Beware of high temperature when replacing the halogen lamp to avoid burns; do not touch the glass envelope of the halogen lamp directly with bare hands.
⑨ When the microscope is powered off and not in use, lower the objective lens to the lowest position via the focusing mechanism.
⑩ Do not put on the dust cover immediately after shutdown. Wait until the equipment cools down, and observe fire safety precautions.
