How to measure leakage with a multimeter

Insulation damage in the circuit or other reasons cause current leakage, that is, leakage. There is a certain potential difference between the electrical enclosure and the mains live wire and the ground after being connected, and leakage will also occur.

The method of electrical live measurement:

Measure with a digital multimeter or a pointer multimeter, hit the 250V AC voltage range, and pay attention to the position of the red and black test pens. The metal casing of the measuring appliance, one test lead is connected to the casing of the electrical appliance, and the other is grounded (or the faucet).

When the pointer or digital display voltage is higher than 30-50V, switch to AC 50V gear. If the power supply is confirmed to be higher than 30V, it is leakage, and it is normal if it is lower than 30V. Then switch the zero and fire power plug wires and measure it again. It can be judged whether it is leakage.

The second method of measuring leakage is to use an electric meter to detect leakage: touch the charged body with an electric pen, and the neon bubble will go out immediately when it lights up, which proves that the charged body has static electricity, and if it stays on, it is leakage.
