How to set the emissivity parameters of infrared temperature measurement?

When using an infrared thermometer for temperature measurement, it must be ensured that the emissivity of the thermometer is set correctly, otherwise inaccurate temperature measurement results will be obtained.

It can be seen that emissivity is a very important indicator for infrared temperature measurement.

How to correctly set the emissivity parameters of infrared temperature measurement?

What is emissivity? Emissivity is the ratio of the energy radiated by the target surface to the energy radiated by a black body at the same temperature;

It is determined by the material of the object itself, for example, plastic has an emissivity of 0.95, ice has an emissivity of 0.98, basalt has an emissivity of 0.7, and so on.

That being the case, in order to obtain the correct temperature measurement results, before measuring the temperature with an infrared thermometer;

The correct emissivity parameters should be set according to the material of the target to be measured. How to set the emissivity parameters of the infrared thermometer?

There are three main methods.

1. Coloring method.

This method is mainly to paint the target surface black, and set the emissivity of the thermometer to 0.97 (0.93) of the black paint (or black tape), and then measure the temperature T1 of the black part with an infrared thermometer;

Then use an infrared thermometer to measure the surface temperature T2 of the part adjacent to the black part, adjust the emissivity value of the infrared thermometer so that T2* is close to T1, and the emissivity value obtained at this time is the emissivity of the measured target.

2. Comparison method.

Find a contact temperature measuring probe, measure the temperature of the surface of the measured target, and adjust the emissivity of the infrared thermometer after the temperature is stable;

Make the temperature value measured by the infrared thermometer consistent with the temperature displayed by the contact temperature measuring probe, and the emissivity at this time is the emissivity of the measured target.

3. Look-up table method.

According to the emissivity table provided in the operation manual or related documents, according to the material of the target to be measured, find the corresponding emissivity value and set it.

You can set the emissivity of the infrared thermometer according to the actual situation to obtain accurate measurement results.
