How to tin the electric soldering iron head
During the lead-free soldering process, there may sometimes be a phenomenon where the soldering iron tip does not adhere to tin. In addition to the quality issues of the soldering iron head itself, we can also identify the reasons for this type of situation from nine other aspects:
1. Choosing a temperature that is too high can easily cause severe oxidation on the tin surface of the soldering iron tip.
2. Do not eat tin on the tin coated surface before use.
3. Using incorrect or defective cleaning methods.
4. Interrupt the use of impure solder or flux in the solder wire.
5. When the working temperature exceeds 350 ℃ and welding is stopped for more than 1 hour, the amount of tin on the lead-free soldering iron head is too low.
6. "Dry burning" electric soldering iron tip, such as when the soldering table is not in use and there is no tin on the surface of the soldering iron tip, can cause rapid oxidation of the soldering iron tip.
7. The flux used is highly corrosive, causing rapid oxidation of the soldering iron tip;

9. Contact with organic substances such as plastics, lubricants, or other compounds. Common handling methods:
It is to use a small knife to scrape off the oxide layer of the soldering iron tip, exposing copper that has not been oxidized by air. Then, dip it in a rosin box and dip it in tin, and you can use it normally. But this method is not thorough enough to remove, and if scraped for a long time, the soldering iron tip will become thinner, affecting heat transfer, causing a temperature drop, and even damaging the soldering iron tip.
The fast and efficient processing method is:
Grasp the wooden handle of the electric soldering iron, immerse the oxidized soldering iron tip into a container containing alcohol, and after 1-2 minutes, remove it. The oxide is completely and cleanly removed, and the soldering iron tip looks brand new. This is because after heating with copper oxide and alcohol, a chemical reaction occurs, which reduces copper and has no corrosive effect on the soldering iron tip.
Why can't the surface of lead-free soldering iron tip be coated with tin? The following situations can cause the soldering iron tip to produce carbides and rapidly oxidize the soldering iron tip, resulting in non tin adhesion.
1. The soldering iron head is in a high temperature state for a long time.
2. After completing the homework, the soldering iron head should be protected by tin plating.
3. During the welding process, plastic parts were not cleaned up in a timely manner.
4. Wipe the soldering iron tip on a dry or unclean sponge or cloth.
5. Is the soldering iron tip covered with carbonized flux.
6. Poor coating or solder or unclean welding surface.
How to restore a lead-free soldering iron tip without tin plating? The following methods can be used for operation:
1. Lower the temperature of the soldering station to around 280 degrees, place the soldering iron head on a damp sponge and repeatedly wipe it with new tin protection without interruption. Repeat the above action until the lead-free soldering iron head is shiny and tinned.
2. Turn off the power supply of the soldering iron, use a blade or fine sandpaper to polish off the dirt and oxides on the tin plated surface of the soldering iron head, then put the soldering iron head into rosin or rosin paste, turn on the soldering iron power supply, adjust the temperature to about 280 degrees, let the soldering iron head heat up in rosin, and then use soldering wire to tin the soldering iron head. After tinning, find a copper wire or suction wire, and let the soldering iron head rub repeatedly on the copper wire until the soldering iron is full.
3. Adjust the temperature of the soldering iron to 300-360 degrees, insert it into the dedicated soldering iron tip repair paste, wait for a few seconds, and then solder the soldering iron tip with a soldering wire.
