How to Use a Multimeter and How It Works
A multimeter is a very practical measuring instrument and an indispensable measuring device in the power electronics sector, mainly used to measure voltage, current, and resistance. So how does a multimeter work? Take a look at the super easy-to-use tutorial for multimeters!
1. First look at the gears, don't look at the size
Every time you pick up the probe to prepare for measurement, be sure to check if the measurement category and range selection switch are in the correct position. For safety reasons, this habit must be developed.
2. Measure without shifting gears, and after measuring, shift to neutral gear
During measurement, the selection knob should not be pushed in arbitrarily, especially at high voltage (such as 220V) or high current (such as 0.5A), to avoid arcing and burning out the switch contacts. After the measurement is completed, turn the distance selection switch to the "" position.
3. The dial should be level and the readings should be aligned
When using a multimeter, it should be rotated horizontally and the reading should be directed directly towards the needle.
4. The measurement range should be appropriate, and the deviation of the needle should exceed half
Select range. If the measurement cannot estimate the size in advance, choose a larger range as much as possible and gradually change to a smaller range until the pointer deviates to about 2/3 of the full range.
