How to use the oil immersion lens of microscope 100X

When a microscope uses a high-power objective lens, it is inevitable to use an oil lens. Especially for the 100X objective lens, the 100X objective lens is divided into two types: dry lens and oil lens. As the name suggests, the dry lens does not need to use oil, while the oil lens needs to use oil.

There are two types of microscopes: upright and inverted. The microscope workbench is used as the reference. The objective lens of the upright microscope is above the workbench, while the inverted microscope is below the workbench.

The oil lens of the upright microscope is to drop the lens oil on the surface of the object, slowly mobilize the coarse adjustment, fine adjustment, pay attention to the falling distance of the objective lens, and align the objective lens with the lens oil dropped on the surface of the object. The lens is submerged in the oil droplet. At this time, the lens can be observed through the eyepiece, and the coarse and fine adjustments can be adjusted to make the lens focus.

Since the objective lens of an inverted microscope is under the workbench, the surface of the object to be observed is downward. If we drop the lens oil on the surface of the object and turn the object to observe, the lens oil will drop, so we need to drop the lens oil on the surface of the object. on the objective lens of the microscope.

At this time, we can use the workbench as a benchmark, adjust the objective lens to the highest position, and drop lens oil on the objective lens, the lens oil will form a droplet-like protrusion, and then slowly move the objective lens down to make the objective lens slightly lower than the stage , the purpose is to prevent the object from touching the objective lens, so as not to damage the objective lens, then place the object on the stage, adjust the focal length, and observe.

After using the oil lens, please clean the objective lens with a mixture of absolute alcohol and yi ether. Wipe with lens tissue or absorbent cotton (filament cotton). The ratio of absolute alcohol to ether is 2:8. Do not wipe in a dusty or very dry environment.
