How to use a refractometer
l. When using the refractometer, hold the rubber sleeve with the four fingers of the left hand and adjust the eyepiece with the right hand to prevent the body temperature from entering the instrument and affecting the measurement accuracy.
2. Open the light inlet plate and wipe the refracting prism clean with a soft velvet cloth.
3. Put a few drops of distilled water on the refracting prism, gently close the light inlet plate, so that the solution is evenly distributed on the surface of the prism, and align the light inlet plate of the instrument with the light source or a bright place, and observe the field of view through the eyepiece. If the dividing line between light and dark field is not clear, then rotate the eyepiece to make the field of view clear, and then turn the zero adjustment screw to set the dividing line between light and dark at zero. Then wipe off the distilled water and replace it with the test solution. At this time, the field of view depends on the boundary line, and the corresponding division scale value is the concentration value and density value of the test solution.
Refractometer Precautions
The refractometer is a precision optical instrument. During use and maintenance, the following items should be paid attention to:
1. In use, you must be careful and use it strictly according to the instructions. Do not loosen the connecting parts of the instrument arbitrarily, and do not drop, collide, or violently vibrate.
2. After use, it is strictly forbidden to put it in water directly for cleaning. It should be wiped clean with a clean soft flannel cloth dampened with water. The surface of optical parts should not be scratched or scratched.
3. The instrument should be stored in a dry, dust-free, oil-free and acid-free place to avoid corrosion or mildew of optical parts.
