How to use the thickness gauge and precautions for use

Thickness gauge usage methods and precautions
Thickness gauge is an instrument used to measure the thickness of materials and objects. It is often used in industrial production to continuously or randomly measure the thickness of products (such as steel plates, steel strips, films, paper, metal foils and other materials). This type of instrument includes radioactive thickness gauges that utilize the penetration characteristics of alpha rays, beta rays, and gamma rays; ultrasonic thickness gauges that facilitate ultrasonic frequency changes; eddy current thickness gauges that utilize the eddy current principle; and mechanical contact measurement principles. Thickness gauge, etc.

How to use the thickness gauge: Align the zero position of the gauge before testing. And try to move the joystick back to zero several times before testing again. Lift and place it gently during operation to avoid damaging the measuring foot and instrument. Press the joystick with your finger to lift the measuring foot, and place the object to be measured on the workbench. Measure between enough. Gently release the joystick. The reading on the meter is the thickness of the object to be measured. After use, put the instrument into the box and place it in a dry place to prevent moisture.

When doing thickness measurement, you should pay attention to the following eight points:
1. When conducting the test, it should be noted that the metal magnetism and surface roughness of the standard piece should be similar to the test piece.

2. When measuring, pay attention to keeping the side head perpendicular to the surface of the sample.

3. When conducting tests, pay attention to the critical thickness of the base metal. If it is greater than this thickness, the measurement will not be affected by the thickness of the base metal.

4. When measuring, pay attention to the influence of the curvature of the specimen on the measurement. Measurements on curved specimen surfaces are therefore unreliable.

5. Before measuring, pay attention to whether other electrical equipment around you will generate a magnetic field. If it does, it will interfere with the magnetic thickness measurement method.

6. When measuring, be careful not to measure at inner corners or near the edge of the specimen, because general thickness gauges are very sensitive to sudden changes in the surface shape of the specimen.

7. Keep the pressure constant during measurement, otherwise it will affect the measurement reading.

8. When conducting testing, it should be noted that the instrument probe and the test piece must be in direct contact, so the ultrasonic thickness gauge is cleaning the attached material on the opposite side.
