Instruction Manual for Infrared Rangefinder
Most infrared rangefinders are used together with laser configurations. Therefore, refer to the rangefinder manual for guidance during operation. The following is the instruction manual for the infrared rangefinder:
① Instrument Setup Set up the theodolite at the station point and level it. Mount the rangefinder main unit onto the theodolite bracket, and
insert the battery into the battery compartment at the bottom of the main unit. Place the reflecting prism at the target point, level it, and align the prism toward the main unit.
② Observation of Vertical Angle and Meteorological Parameters Sight the center of the prism target plate through the theodolite telescope, and center the bubble of the vertical circle index level (skip this step if an automatic vertical index compensator is equipped). Read and record the vertical circle reading, then calculate the vertical angle. Afterwards, record readings from the thermometer and barometer.
③ Determination of Temperature Measurement Range The temperature measurement range is one of the most important performance indicators of a thermometer. Each model has its specific temperature range. Users must accurately and comprehensively evaluate the temperature range of the measured object; the range should be neither too narrow nor excessively wide. According to the law of blackbody radiation, the change in radiant energy caused by temperature in the short-wave spectral band exceeds the radiant energy change induced by emissivity error.
④ Determination of Target Size Infrared thermometers can be classified by principle into single-color thermometers and two-color thermometers (ratio radiation thermometers). For single-color thermometers, the measured target area should fill the instrument's field of view during measurement. It is recommended that the target size exceed 50% of the field of view.
