Introduction to gas detector calibration methods

Gas detectors, like other analytical and detection instruments, are measured using a relative comparison method: first calibrate the instrument with a zero gas and a standard concentration gas, and then obtain a standard curve and store it in the instrument. , the instrument compares the electrical signal generated by the gas concentration to be measured with the electrical signal of the standard concentration, and calculates the accurate gas concentration value. Therefore, zeroing the instrument at any time and calibrating the instrument frequently are essential tasks to ensure accurate measurement. It should be noted that many current gas detectors can replace the detection sensors, but this does not mean that a detector can be equipped with different detector probes at any time.

Whenever a gas detector replaces a probe, in addition to a certain sensor activation time, the instrument must also be recalibrated. In addition, it is recommended that before using the gas detector for various types of instruments, the instrument should be tested for response to the standard gas to ensure that the instrument truly plays a protective role. If this type of instrument is used as a safety alarm in an open place, such as an open workshop, you can use a body-worn diffusion gas detector because it can continuously, real-time and accurately display the concentration of toxic and harmful gases on site. Fixed detectors are generally two-piece. The detection head composed of a sensor and a transmitter is installed as a whole at the detection site. The secondary instrument composed of a circuit, a power supply and a display alarm device is installed as a whole in a safe place for easy monitoring. The detection principle of the gas detector is the same as that described in the previous section, but in terms of process and technology, it is more suitable for the characteristics of continuous and long-term stability required for fixed detection.

Generally speaking, each sensor corresponds to a specific detection gas, but any kind of gas detector cannot be special. Therefore, when selecting a gas sensor, you should try your best to understand the detection interference of other gases on the sensor to ensure its accurate detection of specific gases.
