Electric soldering iron is an indispensable soldering tool in the production and maintenance of electronic products. Electric soldering iron mainly uses electric heating resistance wire or PTC heating element to generate heat energy, and transfers the heat to the soldering iron tip to achieve welding. There are various types of electric soldering irons, including internal heating, external heating, and electronic constant temperature.

 

use. Before using a new soldering iron, a multimeter should be used to measure the resistance at both ends of the power cord. If the resistance is zero, it indicates that there is an internal wire collision and should be disassembled. The wire should be disconnected before plugging in the power supply; If the resistance value is infinite, most of the time the soldering iron core or lead wire will break; If the resistance value is around 3K Ω, plug in the power supply and power on for a few minutes. Then, pick up the soldering iron and dip it in the rosin. Normally, it should smoke and make a "squeaking" sound. Then, dip the soldering iron again and let it fill up before soldering.

Attention: Be sure to dip the soldering iron tip in rosin before powering it on to prevent oxidation and extend its service life.

 

Welding. Pick up the soldering iron and do not solder immediately. You should first dip it in rosin or solder paste (soldering oil). The first purpose is to remove dirt from the soldering iron tip, and the second is to test the temperature, and then dip it in tin. Beginners should develop this good habit. The parts to be welded should be coated with a little welding oil first, and the excessively dirty parts should be cleaned first, and then dipped in welding oil for welding. Welding oil should not be used too much, otherwise it will corrode the circuit board and cause difficult to repair faults. Use rosin welding as much as possible. After the soldering iron is powered on, the placement head of the soldering iron should be higher than the handle, otherwise the handle is prone to burning out. If the soldering iron overheats, the soldering iron tip should be pulled outward from the core shell; If the temperature is too low (when the mains voltage is low, it is not easy to melt tin) and the welding quality cannot be guaranteed, you can insert more soldering iron tips inward to obtain the appropriate temperature. When welding components such as pipes and integrated circuits, the virtual degree should be fast, otherwise it is easy to burn out the components. However, the soldering iron can only be removed after the solder has completely melted into the circuit board and component pins, otherwise it may cause false soldering and bring sequelae to maintenance.
