Introduction to the working principle of UV light meter

An ultraviolet illuminance meter is an instrument specifically designed to measure photometry and brightness.

The measurement of light intensity (illuminance) is the degree to which an object is illuminated, that is, the ratio of the luminous flux obtained on the surface of the object to the illuminated area.

UV illuminance meter is also called UV irradiance meter, UV intensity meter, etc.;

What he mainly measures is the intensity of ultraviolet radiation;

It is used for ultraviolet radiation measurement in the fields of photochemistry, polymer material aging, flaw detection, ultraviolet light sources, plant cultivation, large-scale integrated circuit lithography and other fields.

The principle of ultraviolet light meter is:
Photocells are optoelectronic components that convert light energy directly into electrical energy.

When light strikes the surface of the selenium photovoltaic cell, the incident light passes through the metal film 4 and reaches the interface between the semiconductor selenium layer 2 and the metal film 4, producing a photoelectric effect on the interface.

The magnitude of the potential difference generated has a certain proportional relationship with the illumination on the light-receiving surface of the photovoltaic cell.

At this time, if an external circuit is connected, current will flow through, and the current value will be indicated on the microammeter with lux (Lx) as the scale.

The size of the photocurrent depends on the intensity of the incident light and the resistance in the loop.

The illuminance meter has a gear shifting device, so it can measure both high and low illuminance.

The difference between UV light meter and light meter
Both UV illuminance meters and illuminance meters are instruments that measure light intensity, but UV illuminance meters measure the intensity of ultraviolet rays, while illuminance meters measure the intensity of visible light. The names seem to be similar, but the functions are quite different.

UV illuminance meter is also called ultraviolet irradiance meter. The main units are mW/cm2 or uW/cm2. According to the wavelength band of ultraviolet rays, it can be divided into UVA, UVB, UVC, etc. Different bands of ultraviolet rays are used in different occasions. For example, ultraviolet rays in the UVC band are mainly used for sterilization, ultraviolet rays in the UVB band are used for skin disease treatment, and ultraviolet rays in the UVA band are used for curing. Therefore, when choosing a UV illumination meter, you should also choose according to the wavelength band of the light source.

An illuminance meter is an instrument used to measure luminosity and brightness. The unit is Lux. It is mainly used in lighting illumination detection in public places, lighting production industry, photography industry, stage lighting layout and other places.
