IR Illuminated Camera
An infrared-illuminated camera attempts to project a beam of near-infrared energy to generate its own reflected light, which its imager can see as it bounces off an object. This works, but this time the cameras still rely on reflected light for imaging, so they have the same limitations as other night vision cameras that rely on reflected light, which is short range and poor contrast.
