Is the regulated power supply's adjustment range as small as possible?
Technical specifications of regulated power supply
The technical indicators of regulated power supplies can be divided into two categories: one is characteristic indicators, such as output voltage, output current, and voltage regulation range; Another type is quality indicators, which reflect the advantages and disadvantages of a regulated power supply, including stability, equivalent internal resistance (output resistance), ripple voltage, and temperature coefficient.
1. Characteristic indicators of regulated power supply
(1) Maximum output current
It depends on the maximum allowable working current of the main regulator, the capacity of the transformer, and the maximum rectification current of the diode.
(2) Output voltage and voltage regulation range
This can be determined according to the requirements of the user. For devices that require a fixed power supply, the adjustment range of the regulated power supply is much smaller, and once the voltage value is adjusted, it will not change. For adjustable output voltage power supplies, the output range is mostly adjustable from zero volts, and usually requires a wider voltage adjustment range and continuous adjustability.
(3) Protective characteristics
In a DC regulated power supply, when the load current is overloaded or short circuited, the adjustment tube will be damaged. Therefore, a fast response overcurrent protection circuit must be adopted. In addition, when the regulated current malfunctions, the output voltage may be too high, which can harm the load. Therefore, an overvoltage protection circuit is also required.
(4) Efficiency
The regulated power supply is a transducer, so there is also a problem of Energy conversion efficiency. The main way to improve efficiency is to reduce the power consumption of the adjustment tube.
