Maintenance Tips for Biological Microscopes

(1) Maintenance of the mechanical system: Wipe it clean with a soft lint‑free cloth after use. Apply neutral grease to sliding parts periodically. In case of heavy contamination, first clean with gasoline and then dry thoroughly. Never use alcohol or ether for cleaning, as these reagents corrode metal and paint and cause permanent damage.

(2) Overall maintenance: Store the biological microscope in a dry, cool, dust‑free and non‑corrosive environment. Clean it immediately after use, then cover it with a breathable dust cover or place it inside its case.

(3) Maintenance of the optical system: Gently wipe the lenses of eyepieces and objectives with clean soft silk cloth after use. For stubborn stains, use long‑fiber absorbent cotton or fine cotton cloth dampened with xylene or lens cleaning solution (3 parts alcohol : 1 part ether). Afterwards, dry with clean soft silk cloth or blow dry with an air blower. Take care to prevent cleaning solution from seeping inside the objective lens, otherwise the lens will be damaged. The condenser (only equipped on XSP‑13A and 16A models) and mirror only require simple wiping after use.

In summary, the maintenance of a biological microscope focuses on dust prevention, moisture proofing, heat protection and corrosion prevention. Clean the instrument promptly after use and regularly apply neutral lubricating grease to relevant moving parts. Do not disassemble intricate precision components without professional knowledge, proper skills and special tools, or the parts may be damaged.

A biological microscope is a precision optical instrument widely used in biological teaching and experiments. It consists of two main parts: a mechanical system and an optical system.

The mechanical system includes the barrel transmission assembly, objective revolving mechanism, stage, slide holder, diaphragm switching unit, and rotating assemblies of the arm and base.
