Matters needing attention when measuring voltage with multimeter

(1) The multimeter should be "mechanically zero adjusted" before use. To do this, point the multimeter's pointer to zero voltage or zero current while there is no electricity to be measured.

(2) When using the multimeter, avoid touching the metal portion of the test lead with your hands. By doing this, you can assure both the measurement's accuracy and your own safety.

(3) It is impossible to switch gears while measuring a specific amount of electricity; extra care should be taken when measuring high voltage or high current. The multimeter will be ruined otherwise. If you need to change gears, disconnect the test leads first, then shift gears, and measure again.

(4) To prevent errors, the multimeter must be used horizontally. At the same time, it's important to keep external magnetic fields from affecting the multimeter.

(5) The transfer switch needs to be set to the highest AC voltage level after the multimeter has been used. The multimeter's battery should also be removed if it hasn't been used for a while to avoid the battery corroding other parts of the meter.

4. Auto range multimeter
