Measurement Method Using the Ohm Range of a Digital Multimeter

The main purpose of the digital ohm range is to measure the resistance of motor windings, whether wires are broken, whether plugs are connected, and so on. The number 1 indicates that the measured resistance value is greater than the resistance value set on the multimeter dial (for example, when measuring a 1K resistance and setting the dial to 200 Ω, the reading will show 1). Infinite (horizontal 8 characters) is the resistance value of the insulator.

Measurement method for ohm range of digital multimeter

1, Choose the appropriate magnification. When measuring resistance with an ohmmeter, an appropriate magnification should be selected so that the pointer indicates near the median value. It is recommended not to use the left third of the scale, as it has poor density.

2, Zero it before use.

3, Cannot measure with electricity.

4, The tested resistor cannot have parallel branches.

5, When measuring the equivalent resistance of polarized components such as transistors and electrolysis, attention must be paid to the polarity of the two pens.

6, When measuring the equivalent resistance of nonlinear components using a multimeter with different magnification Ohm settings, the measured resistance values are not the same. This is due to the varying median resistance and full-scale current of each gear. In mechanical meters, the smaller the magnification, the smaller the measured resistance value.
