1. Blindly pursuing high targets
Any product has its own technical specifications, and high specifications of course represent relative high performance. The most important technical indicator for night vision devices is their viewing distance. How far can a night vision device see?
And for the answer to this question, different sellers or brand owners have different interpretations. For example, a certain night vision device has high sales. Some sellers even claim that their night vision device can reach a maximum distance of over kilometers, while some buyers, due to a lack of understanding of the product, blindly pursue high standard parameters, and blindly choose so-called high selling products, leading to procurement errors is not uncommon.
The factors affecting the viewing distance of night vision equipment include the level of image intensifier, magnification, objective size and transmittance intensity, infrared auxiliary lamp illumination distance, observation target size, and environmental lighting conditions. The most important factor among them is the level of the image intensifier tube. The higher the level, the higher the resolution, and the farther the viewing distance. If the same level of image intensifier and resolution are used, and the same target is viewed in the same environment, the night vision instrument with higher infrared intensity and magnification will naturally view further.
According to the current measured data of night vision products in the industry, for a person of 1.7 meters, under 1/4 moonlight, the viewing distance of the first generation night vision device is about 20-50 meters, while the viewing distance of the second generation and second generation+night vision device is 100-200 meters. The viewing distance of the third generation and quasi third generation night vision devices can reach 500-800 meters. The data may have deviations, for reference only.
2. Regarding the price of night vision equipment
The prices of first generation night vision devices range from a few hundred to several thousand, but in terms of usage effectiveness and viewing distance, they are similar. It is not a problem to meet basic short distance target observation. Therefore, when purchasing night vision devices of this level, it is sufficient to choose a large brand with a cheaper price.
The price of second-generation night vision devices is around 10000 yuan, as their image intensifier technology and accessories are monopolized by foreign brands, all of which are imported more. This type of night vision device has superior performance, higher clarity and target recognition, and is widely used. If price is not considered, this type of night vision device can truly reflect the performance level of night vision devices.
The prices of third-generation and fourth generation night vision devices are even higher. Due to relevant laws and regulations in China, these two types of night vision devices are still somewhat restricted in the civilian market.
